El dia amaneció despejado con un parte meteorológico de vientos de componente norte de 8 a 12 knots de intensidad bajando a lo largo del sol y girando a brisa termica producto de calor.

Los finns empezaron a las 13,30 la  1º manga y se vieron afectados por la guerra entre el viento de tierra y la brisa durante todo el día. Compitiendo en un campo de regata con muchas trampas,cambios de dirección de viento y intensidad.

Rafa empezó de menos a mas con un 14º en la primera manga tras una malisima salida que lo lastro toda la prueba. Despues un 6º y un 3º maquillaron un día en el que el de La Linea no estuvo muy acertado.

Declaraciones de Rafa:

‘Dia muy difícil,con muchos roles y cambios de presión que obligaban a navegar por los extremos y no por el centro como me gusta a mi.En la 1º prueba una salida desastrosa  y la falta de agilidad nos hizo navegar por el centro toda la primera parte de la regata montando la 1º manga en el puesto 22 recuperando hasta el 14º.

En las otras dos regatas del dia estuve mucho mas agresivo en la salida con lo que pude decidir donde quería ir y poco a poco recuperar la confianza en mis decisiones y gestionar los riesgos mejor que en la 1º prueba. La verdad es que la 1º prueba a lastrado el dia y no puedo estar contento con mis resultados.Espero que en los próximos días ser mas regular’.

The forecast for today was wind from the North 8 to 12 knots of intensity decreasing as the day went on. The first start began at 13:30 and that race was very shifty as there was an ongoing battle between the sea breeze and the land breeze. The race course was extremely complicated and after a bad start Rafa was left to fight to make up places for the rest of the race and finished 14^th. His starts improved and allowed him to sail more freely and his results were a 6^th and a 3^rd in the final race of the day.

Rafa’s statements:

‘Very difficult day, with many shifts and changes in pressure which required us to sail on the sides of the racecourse. After a disastrous 1^st start I was pretty much stuck in the middle of the course and suffered for the duration of the race though I was able to improve from 22^nd to 14^th.

During the other two races of the day I was much more aggressive on my starts which allowed me to decide where I wanted to go and gradually regain confidence in my decisions and manage risks better than the 1st race.

The truth is that the first race of the day really ruined my day and I am not happy with my overall result. I hope that I become more consistent in the next few days.”

The event is being led by British Sailor Giles Scott followed by Zach Railey (USA) and Peer Moberg (NOR).
